Sant'Antimo Abbey

just 9 KM far from the town of Montalcino, Sant'Antimo Abbey is an enchanting example of Romanesque architecture from the 1st century.
Completely built in pale travertine stone and rare onyx stone, in a quiet and peaceful valley just below the village of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, the abbey was founded in 781 by Charlemagne. Today it houses a very active community of monks. Thanks to the exceptional acoustic of the abbey, one of the daily services where monks sing Gregorian chants is an incredible experience.
